What a great day.  Sat at anchor all day fishing for blonde rays.  So relaxing compared with what we do most days, up and down on the drift over a wreck or bank.  Fishing was steady with 8 blondes landed.  Should have been more, but we lost 3 due to tackle failure.  Tope and bass also featured in the catch.
Reasonable fish above for Mike, Dave and Kenny.

A bonus bass for George, (left) who also landed two rays.

A singles wrecking trip that saw us moving away from the more familier wrecks that we have fished recently to try some of the lesser fished ones.  The change of venue was worthwhile and the lads enjoyed some reasonable fishing.  Although not a hectic day, the lads landed 18 cod, the best of which are pictured here with captors John and Rob.  Pollock to around 12lb were also caught.  The one pictured below, although not the days biggest, was captor Neil's first ever boat caught fish.  His tally for the day also included his first ever cod.
Neil may well have caught a few fish today, but it is he that was truly hooked.  Hooked on boat fishing, he tells me.

Not always flat and sunny though Neil.

Another fine day on the wrecks.  Cod fishing was down on yesterday with only 7 landed, but pollock were slightly more prolific and for the most part, better quality, up to 14lb 4oz.
The lads with part of their catch of cod, pollock and one bass.

A short inshore charter for a group of 10 Army personnel.  All were novices and needed to use the boat's equipment, but most grasped the art of boat fishing quickly and between them they landed some fine fish.  Their catch included blonde rays to just under 23lb, bass, congers, tope and of course the odd dogfish.
A bonus bass for Tim and one of his two blonde rays.  This one was weighed before release and went 22lb+
Both of these girls caught conger eels, although it has to be said, that one was more like a congerlet. The blonde ray on the left that is only just being held aloft, went 16lb+ before release.

Our first attemp this year at shark fishing.  Sadly we failed to attract one anywhere near the boat dispite laying a good scent trail during an 11 mile drift.  Plenty of tope to around 20lb falling to the baits fished lower in the water.
Monday 10th - Monday 17th July 06
7 days fishing for bass, which are still a little below par for the time of year.  Signs of improvement though with more quality fish featuring in the catches.  A selection of pictures from the week are shown below.  Best day was the last day with even the smallest fish making around 3lb.
Nice one Al

An inshore charter for some MOD lads.  Fishing to the SE of Anvil Point, the lads managed a mixed bag that included tope, bream, a blonde ray and the usual pout, mackerel and dogs.

Mid channel wrecking for a bunch of mainly novices from Milton Keynes.  Fine weather saw us enjoying reasonable fishing, although down on recent wreck trips.  The catch was mainly pollock, with just two cod caught but two bonus bass were landed including one of 9lb 8oz.
Our second go this year at trying to catch a shark. Sadly the conditions were against us with no wind at all, which caused the rubby dubby trail to stay close to the boat.  Mackerel were plentiful and were breaking the surface within 100 metres of the boat all day.  Plenty of tope to the mid twenties and even a couple of bonus bass kept the lads busy.
One of two bass for Alan
